Iola Bump & Jump Race Report
This was the first weekend in over a year that we loaded the bikes up and headed to a race. Even though it was only 44 degrees when we pulled into the parking lot we were able to stay warm while setting up the WORS tents and then headed out for some pre-riding. That night we headed to Don's place for a tour of the WORS head quarters and a spaghetti feed.
Sunday the sun was out, the wind had died down and it was shaping up to be a really nice day. I was working the CycleOps / Park Tool tent. It is amazing the amount of work people needed done to their bikes only minutes before the race! While wrenching on bikes and getting people set up I was trying to talk Cathy into racing. She had every excuse I have ever heard - I can't do 3 laps, I haven't been riding enough, I just had a kid 8 weeks ago. About 45 minutes before her race she finally agreed to suit up.
Cathy's race went really good, she got through the first two laps and then had enough left to really push the last lap hard. At the finish she was 4th in her age and 12th overall - incredible considering her 3 excuses were all pretty legitimate!
Just after she finished it was time for me to line up. We took off like a shot and the pace didn't slow through the entire race. I felt good and although I finished mid pack I felt good and was able to keep the race in check through the final lap.
It was good to see everyone again. Hopefully it will warm up for the next couple races so we can bring the kids. They were at grandma and grandpa's this weekend and had a lot of fun.

Race Weekend
This Sunday is the first WORS race of the season. Neil is racing this season, he has been training as much as he can to prepare for the incredible fast pace of the Pro/Expert field. I am going to be the water girl for a few of the races and then maybe later in the season I will try my hand at racing this year. We leave tomorrow morning to head to Iola, Neil's parents are watching the kids Saturday and Sunday. It will be my first night away from Georgia I have that mother anxiety of leaving your baby for the first time, but I know she will be fine. It will be fun to see everyone at the race and catch up with people since it has been awhile. Check out our blog on Monday for race highlights and hopefully some pictures.

St. Louis Trip Pics
We went to St. Louis a couple weeks ago for a Birthday Party/Family Reunion. It was a lot of fun and the kids did wonderfully. We went to the St.Louis Zoo one day, went biking, shopping a cute little town near our hotel and went to a fabulous Italian restaurant located in "The Hill" area of St. Louis. It was a great time!
Neil and I went Mt. Biking one of the days we were down there. The trails were a lot of fun.
Keenan loves playing in the water.
We went on a tour of the penguin exhibit at the St. Louis Zoo. It was really neat. Thanks Grandma.
Keenan had fun playing and seeing all the animals at the Zoo.
We found a snake statue at the zoo. That is one of the animal noises Keenan can do ... HISSSSS! He is so cute when he does it.Thursday, April 30, 2009
Stimulus Check
There has been a lot of talk about stimulus checks this year. They come in many forms, today mine came in a $186 warning.
We were on our Thursday "Gun-Show" ride at lunch. It was a small group and as we rolled through Verona we ran into one of the locals. I saw his car out of the corner of my eye as we slowly (yes it was slow) rolled through one of the intersections. I would have stopped after spotting him but was already through so I made the turn and slowly continued. After a 10 minute break and a warning for what is a $186 ticket we were back on our way.
So remember: Always wear a helmet and come to a complete stop at intersections.

Easter weekend

This weekend we headed back to MN to see my family. It was Georgia's first long car ride. It started off kind of loud, we were a little nervous, but she settled down and slept the whole way. On Saturday Neil went for a 3 hour road ride, it was a pretty windy day, it was a nice hard ride for him. I went in to Rochester without any kids it was kind of fun and met up with my best friend. I had to picked up my dress for a wedding I am in in June, the dress fits, but it is a little tight I have 2 months to get back into shape.
My family always goes to the Easter early rise Sunday service at church which was at 6:30 AM, Georgia woke up at 4:30ish to eat and that is when my day started. We had a lot of great food and it was alot of fun seeing my family and friends.
